Upperblue Maps
Read sources, times and units
Interpret a map result with its provenance and actual precision.
Upperblue Maps ↓Every value has context
Source, time, unit and coverage qualify the value you see. Open the feature details and relevant layer information instead of inferring precision from the appearance of the map.
Check before comparing
A short check prevents unlike quantities being compared.
- Identify the source and dataset or catalogue where provided.
- Read the observation/event or forecast valid time.
- Check units and whether the displayed number is measured, modelled or derived.
- Read missing-value, quality and coverage information before sharing a conclusion.
Do not create extra precision
A sharp display boundary or a smooth colour surface does not change the resolution of the source. Keep stated limitations with exported or shared interpretations.
Follow the right source
Upperblue consolidates source data; the original provider remains important. Use the attribution and source links attached to the layer, and preserve the relevant credit when reusing data.
